Writing-intensive Courses
After they have completed Seminar in Composition (ENGCMP 0200), under- graduate students in Arts and Sciences take two writing-intensive courses (one in the major) in order to fulfill the General Education writing requirement.
A course must be reviewed by the College Writing Board and approved by the Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Council before students can receive W credit for taking it. Anyone involved in developing a writing-intensive course should consult the pages under Proposing a New W-Course. These pages provide a pedagogical grounding for the design stage and explain the required documentation for the proposal stage.
Faculty members who have been assigned to teach a writing-intensive course can review the pedagogical guidelines under Teaching an Existing W-Course.
